More InformationWe invite you to our registration on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Milan Elementary School for both the Traditional and Readiness Kindergarten programs. All 2017 Kindergarten classes, Readiness and Traditional, will be full-day classes meeting every day Monday-Friday and students are eligible for all programs including lunch & book assistance.
For your convenience there will be several sessions during which children may be registered and/or screened. Sessions will begin at 8:30 a.m. that morning and continue throughout the day in half-hour increments (8:30, 9:00, 9:30, etc.) with the final session beginning at 4:00 p.m. You are asked to call the school at 654-2922 or 654-2379 to indicate which session you and your child will be attending.
It is IMPORTANT that you be here ready to begin at the time your session starts. The child who will be attending Kindergarten should come with you but, due to lack of space and the time involved, we ask that other children do not attend. If a parent cannot attend with the child, another adult designated by the parent must be present as a great deal of important information and paperwork is given out during the enrollment session. For 4 year-old Readiness Kindergarten students, the session will last about ½ hour. For Traditional Kindergarten students the registration process also includes a brief screening session which brings the total registration time for 5 year-old Traditional Kindergarten to about 1 hour.
Please be sure to bring your child’s birth certificate and immunization record with you that day. Children are not “fully” registered until these items are on file.
Minimum immunization requirements for Indiana are: five doses of DPT, (four doses if the fourth dose was given on or after the fourth birthday), four polio immunizations, two doses of MMR, three doses of Hepatitis B, two doses of Hepatitis A, two chickenpox vaccinations (on or after the 1st birthday) or physician record of chicken pox disease.
The Ripley County Health Department offers immunizations by appointment. You can schedule an appointment by calling 812-689-0506. Margaret Mary Health offers immunizations at their new Wellness Clinic, located at 1051 State Road 229 North in Batesville (across from Kroger and behind Mainsource Bank), on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Appointments are available by calling them at 812- 934-0699. You must bring your child’s personal immunization record with you to either clinic or immunizations cannot be given.
Again, please be sure to call the school at 812-654-2922 or 812-654-2379 to indicate which session you and your child will be attending. Remember, our Readiness Kindergarten class size is limited and openings will fill up fast. First consideration will be given to those attending registration. Current Kindergarten classes will be in session that day.
