3.5M American Children Injured Each Year Playing Sports
(Whippany, NJ) — About three-and-a-half-million children in the U.S. are injured each year playing sports and need medical attention. Scott Gunter is a certified athletic trainer at the SportsCare Performance Institute in Whippany, New Jersey and says spring and summer are prime time for injuries. Gunter says the most common injuries he sees among baseball and softball players involve shoulders, elbows, ACL injuries and even concussions as kids ramp up the competition level. He reminds kids to make sure they warm up before getting started and remember to cool down afterwards. He also says proper-fitting equipment helps prevent a world of hurt.
