Dodgers’ Mattingly: Beckett Likely Done For Season
(Los Angeles, CA) — Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly believes starting pitcher Josh Beckett is done for the season. Mattingly told MLB.com that Beckett threw the other day, but doesn’t think there is enough time to get him back this year. The right-hander went on the disabled list August 8th with a torn labrum and two cysts on his left hip after trying to pitch through the injury. Surgery remains an option for Beckett with his season likely over. The 34-year-old went 6-and-6 with a 2.88 ERA in 20 starts, and threw his first career no-hitter May 25th in Philadelphia.
