“Downton Abbey” Returning To PBS On January 4th
(Undated) — Ring the bell for another season of “Downton Abbey.” PBS head Paula Kerger announced during Tuesday’s Television Critics Association press tour that Season Five of the hit British drama is set to hit airwaves stateside, starting January 4th, 2015. “The Los Angeles Times” says the network answered some criticism about why it chooses to run “Downton’s” new seasons in the U.S., months after they’ve already aired in the U.K. Kerger points to the 16-percent increase in viewership for last season, and adds that January has been working well as the winter months bring more TV watchers.
Season Five of “Downton Abbey” is expected to include more twists and turns in the story of the Crawley family and their servants. The show is up for more Emmys this year, including a nomination in the Outstanding Drama Series category.
