Germany Recorded Conversations By U.S. Secretaries Of State
(Berlin) — Germany is being accused of accidentally spying on U.S. Secretaries of State John Kerry and Hillary Clinton. Last year, a phone call by Kerry was recorded during an operation to monitor Middle East telecommunications according to German media reports. Another conversation between Clinton and UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan was recorded in 2012. None of the three were targeted by Germany’s foreign intelligence agency. Germany has complained about the United States spying on German authorities and ordered a top CIA officer to leave the country last month.
