State Dept Welcomes Today’s Gaza Truce

(Washington, DC) — The U.S. is embracing the new ceasefire agreement between Israeli and Palestinian militants in Gaza. State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said today the U.S. urges both parties to fully comply with the terms of the truce and hopes it will be durable. The truce calls for an indefinite end to hostilities and the immediate opening of Gaza’s crossings with Israel and Egypt. The agreement puts an end to seven weeks of bitter fighting between Israel and Hamas.
