Troy Gentry’s Helicopter Ride Was “Spur Of The Moment”
Federal investigators say the helicopter ride that lead to the death of Troy Gentry was a “spur of the moment” trip.
NTSB spokesman Brian Rayner told “People” magazine, the pilot announced over airport frequency “not long after takeoff” that he was having difficulty controlling the engine RPM.
Rayner says the pilot was performing an “auto rotational descent to runway one,” but landed short of the runway in low brush.
A preliminary report explaining full details of the crash is expected to be released to the public early next week. A full, factual report can take at least a year to compile.
