(Indianapolis, IN) -- A prominent scholar who was recently headed to IU is now sentenced to life in a Chinese prison. A Chinese court sentenced Ilham Tohti this week on separatism charges. The economics professor was scheduled to teach at IU as a visiting scholar. His daughter currently lives in Bloomington.
