(Batesville, Ind.) – Where else can you dine on fried chicken, enjoy a couple beers, and hear a preview of the 2014-2015 southeast Indiana high school basketball season?

Nowhere except the Southeast Indiana Boys Basketball Tipoff Event. Fifteen head basketball coaches from across the area will take turns speaking about their teams and conferences, says organizer Scott Lamping.

The event will be emcee’ed by Bob Lovell, the host of the statewide syndicated radio program Indiana Sports Talk.

The dinner will be held Thursday, October 30 at the Batesville Knights of Columbus hall, 624 Delaware Road. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner begins at 6:00, and the coaches will begin speaking at 7:00. The event is expected to continue until 11:00 p.m.

Tickets to the tipoff dinner are $30, available at the door or by calling (812) 934-4440. Admission includes a chicken dinner along with complimentary beer and soft drinks. Attendees are limited to men age 21 and older.

The money raised will go to the Oldenburg Academy Students In Sports (OASIS) booster group for Oldenburg Academy’s athletic program.

Lamping says the idea for the event has been so well received that he and others are already planning to hold the same event next year.

The head coaches coming to speak include Batesville’s Aaron Garrett, East Central’s Dave Disbro, Franklin County’s Fred Andrews, Greensburg’s Stacy Meyer, Hauser’s Bob Nobbe, Jac-Cen-Del’s Perry Nash, Lawrenceburg’s John Blackwell, Milan’s Josh Blankinship, North Decatur’s Kyle Nobbe, Rising Sun’s Chris Jones, South Dearborn’s Rick Shumate, South Decatur’s Jordan Stevens, South Ripley’s Travis Wrightsman, Switzerland County’s Adam Dennis, and Oldenburg Academy’s Ace Moorman.

Each coach will have 10 minutes to talk about their team or any other subject they choose.
