2013 State Of Dearborn County Report
By Mike Perleberg
(Dearborn County, Ind.) – Dearborn County Commissioners have put out their first State of the County report to County Council and citizens.
The report recaps the commissioners’ – Shane McHenry, Kevin Lynch, and Art Little – efforts in 2013 regarding their goals, priorities, successes, and challenges facing Dearborn County.
According to the State of the County’s executive summary, “Major successes included cleaning up outdated ordinances, gaining a better understanding of the challenges facing managers and county Boards, building deeper and better relationships across the municipalities and community as a whole, bringing to resolution an internal struggle of jail overcrowding and a debate that had been occurring over many years, addressing the potential of being considered “high risk” for unemployment insurance due to repeated years of high claims, and stepping into a very competitive situation to secure the largest economic development project in the unincorporated area of the county in many years.”
In a joint statement in the opening letter, the executives said the trust placed in them by citizens is not taken lightly
“We have much work ahead of us and remind you that our door is always open to hear your ideas and feedback as this truly is your government,” they said.
