(Osgood, Ind.) – It won’t be long before Ripley County community members get together to remember loved ones lost, honor survivors of all cancers, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society.
The 2017 Ripley County Relay for Life takes place Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11 at Jac-Cen-Del Junior-Senior High School, 4544 N. U.S. Highway 421 in Osgood.
The 24-hour fundraiser will run from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Festivities will begin with the Opening Ceremony, which celebrates anyone who has been affected by cancer. The infamous Survivors Lap will follow. Anyone who has overcome cancer is invited to take the first lap around the track.
Other activities include a caregivers lap, luminaria ceremony, and many fundraising booths.
A number of registered teams will be selling various items including: grilled hot dogs and baked goods; canvas paint party; sign-ups for the annual golf outing; lemon shake ups and more.
The Ripley County Relay for Life has set a $121,000 fundraising goal. To date, more than $64,000 has been donated to the cause.
Proceeds help the American Cancer Society fund groundbreaking cancer research, crucial patient care services, and prevention and early detection programs.
