(Milan, Ind.) – The Milan Girl Scout Troop 03201 is doing their part to give back to the community.

The Girl Scout troop held a rummage sale on February 27 at the First Baptist Church of Milan to raise money for the Milan Food Pantry Building Fund.

The troop was notified that the Milan Food Pantry Building Fund was short $2,000, and they were determined to lend a helping hand.

The Milan Girl Scout Troop 03201 ended up raising $1,000 by requesting donations from the community and selling items at the rummage sale. The rummage sale event also gave the troop an opportunity to earn one of their community badges.

Milan Girl Scout Troop 03201 members that contributed to the project include: Cadettes: Megan Brown, and Sarah Bohley; Juniors: Ava Honnert, Eleanor Honnert, Laurinzie Taylor, Kaitlyn Carpenter, Riley Schwipps, and Rachel Holt; Brownies: Violet Thome, Ruby Brown, Shelby Williams, Abby Carpenter, Hannah Bohley, Kilee Walker, and Faith Lynn Marsh; Leaders: Amy Bohley and Amanda Honnert.

Parents that contributed include Candice Lackman, Angel Brown, Jodi Williams, Michelle Carpenter, Rachel Schwipps, Danielle McQueen, and Treasa Taylor

The new Milan Food Pantry is hoping to be completed within the next couple months. Donations can be made by contacting the First Baptist Church of Milan on Main Street.
