(Cincinnati, Oh.) – A six month jail sentenced has been handed to a Dearborn County man who overdosed on heroin in a McDonald’s restaurant.

On March 9, Robert Palmer and Tamica Jeffers, both of Dillsboro, were found unconscious at the fast food restaurant’s kids play area in Green Township. They told police they had overdosed on heroin.

Two of Jeffers’ children – an eight-year-old girl and a five-year-old boy – were with the couple. Palmer is reported to be the girl’s father.

Palmer, 37, was found guilty of two counts of Child Endangering during a trial in Hamilton County on March 27.  On Monday, he was back in court for sentencing. Judge Cheryl Grant ordered him to serve 180 days in jail. Credit was given for time Palmer has served in jail following his arrest.

According to WLWT-TV, prosecutors told the judge that Palmer is not interested in being evaluated for drug treatment.

“He ended the evaluation early. He says he doesn’t need treatment. He has little appreciation for the seriousness of this offense and the problem that he obviously has with pain killers and heroin,” said K.C. Fischer with the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s office.

Jeffers, 33, is still waiting to go to trial. The case was scheduled for April 7, but was delayed at the last minute to April 21.
