(Osgood, Ind.) – An alleged home burglar was caught by police after a horribly botched getaway attempt.

Deputies and Indiana State Police officers were called to a residence on County Road 700 North near Osgood just before 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, according to Ripley County Sheriff’s Corporal Rob Bradley. The report stated that a male with a suspicious vehicle was removing items from a barn at the residence.

As officers arrived on the scene they discovered Aaron D. Powers, 26, attempting to flee the scene. However, his getaway vehicle became stuck in the yard of the residence, preventing his escape.

Powers was apprehended. Bradley said he was allegedly found to be in possession of stolen items from the property.

Powers has been charged with Theft (Class D felony). He was held at the Ripley County Jail pending bond of $1,050.

The case remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
