(Manchester, Ind.) – The suspect from last month’s domestic violence situation in Manchester has been taken into custody.

Brent M. Stephenson, 32, of Milan, was arrested on September 1 and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon (Level 4 felony), Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon (Level 5 felony) and Pointing a Firearm (Level 6 felony).

According to the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department, Stephenson allegedly pointed a firearm in the direction of a relative while at a residence on the 12100 block of State Road 48 in Manchester on August 28.

Deputies say Stephenson pulled the gun during a heated argument with the individual about an item that was taken from his bedroom.

The individual was eventually able to get out of the residence safely, drive away and call the police.

The victim then told police that prior to coming in contact with Stephenson, he had sent a text message stating that he had a surprise waiting at home.

The situation shut down State Road 48 for several hours while police investigated the scene, and searched for Stephenson.

This is not Stephenson’s first run-in with law enforcement. His record consists of Dealing a Schedule I or II Narcotic Drug and Reckless Homicide.

Stephenson is currently being held in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on $15,000 surety bond, in addition to cash only bond of $2,500.

He is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on October 24 at 8:15 a.m.
