(Brookville, Ind.) – The Freedom From Religion Foundation’s message that “Religion is but myth” has returned to the Franklin County Courthouse lawn.

The atheist organization headquartered in Wisconsin said a banner was stolen from the First Amendment battleground on December 5 or 6. The FFRF placed its banner outside the courthouse and just feet away from a privately-owned Christian Nativity scene this Christmas season after unsuccessfully suing to have the Nativity removed last year.

A new banner with the same message was put up by the group over the weekend. This time, it includes two notes reading “Thou shalt not steal…”.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation is still offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest for the theft of its other banner.

Meanwhile, another group, The Satanic Temple, reached a settlement with Franklin County earlier this month that could allow them to put a goat-head man statue on the courthouse lawn.
