(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Dan Coats (R-Ind.) spoke with Eagle 99.3’s Bubba Bo live on-air Friday.
The Republican Senator touched on issues and current events including the Veterans Administration hospital scandal, Indiana Governor Mike Pence’s Healthy Indiana Plan 2.0 proposal, and the White House’s foreign policy.

If the situation regarding the VA hospital in Phoenix, Arizona – where as many as 40 veterans may have died after being placed on a secret waiting list for care – is true, Coats believes somebody should answer to the law.
“These people ought to go to jail. It’s absolutely unacceptable and we need to delve into that. I just want to make sure that this isn’t happening elsewhere; that it isn’t part of the culture of the VA. So I do think an outside investigation is important.”
Coats said he wants an independent review of when he believes may be systemic problems in the VA.
“If it needs a total overhaul our veterans deserve that,” Coats said.
Coats said the answer may not be more funding for the Veterans Administration. He said a broader look may determine the system would better serve veterans by allowing them to choose to use not only the VA hospitals, but private hospitals.
