AUDIO: Greendale Mayor Talks Curbside Recycling, Redevelopment
By Travis Thayer
(Greendale, Ind.) – Greendale Mayor Alan Weiss stopped by the Eagle Country 99.3 studio Thursday to shoot on the city’s new recycling program and redevelopment.
Mayor Weiss says Greendale residents are invited to an Open House on Wednesday, February 21 from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Administration Building on Ridge Avenue.
Residents are welcome to ask questions and/or voice concerns about the new sanitation policy and recycling program.
Earlier this month, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management announced Greendale would receive a $42,346 grant that will help implement a new residential single stream recycling collection program by purchasing 65-and 96-gallon recycling rolling carts and containers for residents to use. Curbside recycling is expected to begin in April.
“We’ve had a lot of positive response,” said Weiss. “We’ve ordered all the containers and they should be here by the first of March.
Weiss also touched briefly on redevelopment along U.S. 50, including Lischkge Motors going in at the site of the recently bulldozed Wishing Well Motel.
