By Travis Thayer
(Aurora, Ind.) – Aurora residents will get new trash service from Rumpke starting in January.
The City of Aurora has decided not to renew its trash collection contract with Best Way Disposal, and will go with Rumpke beginning on Thursday, January 4. Beginning the week of January 8, collection day will occur Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for different areas of town. View a map at http://aurora.in.us/pdf/rumpke-service-schedule-map.pdf.
All Aurora residents and small businesses can lease a 95-gallon trash cart for $3 a month. The new trash cans are due to be delivered next week. To order a new can, call Rumpke at 1-800-828-8171.
Trash service will continue to be billed to your Aurora Utility account.
Rumpke would like to remind Aurora residents that trash should be placed at the curb the night before your scheduled collection day.
Collection is limited to five 30-gallon trash cans or bags. Cans shouldn’t exceed 75 pounds. Loose shrubbery or lumber must be bundled, and residents are asked to contact Rumpke at least 24 hours in advance to request a large item pick-up.
Curbside recycling service is also available through the Aurora Street Department. To sign-up, call 812-926-5403.
