Batesville Police Find Drugs During Stop

(Batesville, Ind.) – A routine traffic stop turned into something much more for Batesville Police on Thursday.


An officer stopped a vehicle driven by Natasha Ward, 24, of Osgood, on the State Road 229 overpass at Interstate 74 for a minor traffic violation. The officer soon discovered the license plates on the vehicle were fictitious.


Officers were given consent to search the vehicle. In it they found heroin, marijuana, prescription drugs, hypodermic needles and drug paraphernalia.


Ward was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class D felony), Possession of a Hypodermic Needle (Class D felony), Possession of Marijuana (Class A misdemeanor), and Possession of Paraphernalia (Class B misdemeanor).  


She was incarcerated at the Ripley County Jail.
