Berkley’s Beard Best In Bicentennial Beard Battle
By Mike Perleberg
(Rising Sun, Ind.) – The competition got a little hairy, but the winners have been announced in the City of Rising Sun’s Bicentennial Beard Contest.
Voting was taking place on the city’s Facebook page through Sunday, March 30. After the votes were tallied, the “People’s Choice Best Beard Award” and a $500 prize went to Chris Berkley with 640 votes.
Three entrants went to great lengths and tied for the “Longest Beard Award.” They were Don Bultman, Keith Chanley, and Michael Hamilton. The three beards were within 1/16 of an inch of each other at about 1.5 inches long. The three men split the prize and took home $100 each.
Two awards were determined by a 12-member panel. Paul Bovard was recognized for having the “Scruffiest Beard.” The title of “Handsomest Beard” was awarded to Richard Short. They each won $250.
