Black Ice Making For Treacherous Morning Commute

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Motorists are reporting patches of black ice on roads across the tri-state Wednesday morning.

Standing water from rain late Tuesday night has been freezing as temperatures dropped into the low 30s this morning.

Motorists are encountering slick roads, especially those which have not been treated. We’ve gotten reports of slick surfaces on Interstate 74, U.S. 50, and State Road 350 – but the possibility of black ice is almost anywhere.

Most area highway departments have crews out spreading salt.

Local schools are signaling for delays to allow for temperatures to warm up and the ice to melt. Find those announcements on our Closings & Delays page.
