Boone Co. Schools Earn Recognition For Protecting The Environment

(Boone County, Ky.) – A number of northern Kentucky schools have received recognition for helping to protect the environment.
Seven Boone County schools received EPA Energy Star Certification on Tuesday.
Energy Star certified building save energy, money, and help protect the environment by generating fewer greenhouse gas emissions than typical buildings.
Schools receiving EPA Energy Star Certification include: Burlington Elementary, Conner Middle, Florence Elementary, Kelly Elementary, Longbranch Elementary, Stephens Elementary, and Thornwilde Elementary.
To be eligible for Energy Star certification, a school building must earn an Energy Star score of 75 or higher on the EPA’s 1-100 energy performance scale, indicating that the school performs better than at least 75 percent of similar buildings nationwide.
