UPDATE: Mower Business Damaged By Early Morning Fire

Versailles Fire Department Chief Ben Sieverding says that the cause of Friday morning’s fire at a lawnmower shop remains under investigation.
Firefighters were called to Downtown Mowers near the intersection of U.S. 50 and Gaslight Drive at about 2:30 a.m. They remained on scene until about 7:45 a.m.
Sieverding said the building was unoccupied at the time and nobody was hurt. About 50 percent of the building suffered fire damage while home and smoke damage was spread throughout.
Departments assisting at the scene included Holton, Osgood, Friendship, and Milan. Aurora Fire Department covered the other departments’ territories as they were busy in Versailles.

U.S. 50 reopened at the fire scene at about 7:20 a.m.

(Versailles, Ind.) – Firefighters are dealing with an early morning blaze at a business in Versailles.
The fire was reported around 2:30 a.m.at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Gaslight Drive in town at the old AmVets building. Dispatchers said a lawnmower business is housed in the building.
Five fire departments from across Ripley County are on the scene including Versailles, Osgood, Holton, Milan, and Friendship. Dispatchers were not aware of any injuries.
U.S. 50 is closed in Versailles at that fire scene as of 6:30 a.m.
