UPDATE: Natural Gas Leak Leads To Evacuations In Vevay

Update published at 4:06 p.m.:

The gas leak has been stopped, the Jeff-Craig Fire Department reports. Residents are allowed to return to their homes and the intersection has reopened to traffic.

(Vevay, Ind.) – A natural gas leak has forced the evacuation of some Vevay residents Monday afternoon.

The leak was reported by the Jeff-Craig Fire Department at about 2:30 p.m. The fire department and sheriff’s department have shut down State Road 129 at East State Road 56 near the Switzerland and Jefferson County line.

Traffic going westbound on East State Road 56 are being diverted up State Road 129 and traffic going eastbound on East State Road 56 from the county line are being halted at this time. Spring Branch and Patton Hollow Road are also being shut down.
