Update posted at 8:51 a.m.:

Dispatchers say that SR 48 will be reopened at the accident scene just east of SR 148, but it will close again.

A vehicle struck a utility pole on SR 48 at about 6:15 a.m., causing power lines to fall down. SR 48 has been closed since.

Authorities plan to reopen the highway, but only until additional utility crews arrive on scene to assist with repairing the utility pole and downed lines. At that point, SR 48 will be closed for another three to four hours, dispatchers said.

Residents and businesses in the area may experience brief power outages as the power lines are repaired.
