Bridge Painting Along I-74 This Fall
By Mike Perleberg
(Dearborn County, Ind.) – A few Interstate 74 bridges will receive a fresh coat of paint this fall.
Crews contracted by the Indiana Department of Transportation will begin the projects with the bridge carrying Enochsburg Road over I-74, located west of Batesville, in Franklin County. Painting operations will start on September 6, weather permitting.
Crews will then paint the St. Peters Road overpass in Dearborn County starting on October 1.
The I-74 eastbound and westbound bridges over Stout Road in Dearborn County will be painted starting October 26. According to INDOT, each bridge will close to traffic – one at a time – for approximately two weeks. A signed detour will be in place to route motorists around the closures
In April of 2018, the U.S. 31 bridges over Indianapolis Road and Louisville & Indiana Railroad on the south side of Columbus will be painted.
The $876,144 contract for the painting has been awarded to Civil Coatings and Construction Inc. of Valparaiso.
