Would-Be Burglar, Homeowner Scuffle In Rising Sun

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – A Rising Sun man caught in the act of an alleged burglary is in custody after a scuffle with the homeowner.

Rising Sun Police say a homeowner on the 900 block of Main Street found a man in his barn around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

According to a news release, the homeowner engaged in a scuffle with the suspect, Donathan R.L. Gaddis. During the altercation, Gaddis was struck in the mouth before he threw the homeowner into the barn door, causing the victim to fall down.

The 18-year-old then fled the scene on foot. He was eventually taken into custody in the area of Fairgrounds Road.

Gaddis is charged with Burglary Resulting in Bodily Injury (Level 3 felony) and Burglary (Level 5 felony).

He is currently being held in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.
