(Boone County, Ky.) – Boone County sheriff’s deputies say credit card skimmers were found on a half-dozen pumps at a local gas station.

The devices were found Wednesday morning at the Sunoco station on Mt. Zion Road near Interstate 75 exit 178. Investigators say the skimmers are placed on gas pumps to steal customers’ credit and debit card information.

It’s not known how many customers’ information may have been swiped.

“At this time we can’t confirm how long the credit card skimmers were on the pumps and if there are other credit card skimmers in the area,” the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators are working to locate those responsible. Anybody with information that can help is asked to contact the Boone County Sheriff’s Office at (859) 334-2175.

This is just the latest report of card skimmers being discovered in Boone County. Last week, Florence Police asked for help identifying a man seen on camera installing a card skimmer on an ATM at a bank on Houston Road.
