Child Revived After Driving Power Wheel Into Pond
(Franklin County, Ind.) – A child nearly drowned in Franklin County Saturday evening.
The incident was reported in a pond on Stateline Road at Hillman Road in eastern Franklin County at around 6:00 p.m., according to a Franklin County Sheriff’s Department news release.
The three-year-old boy was riding a Power Wheel when he drove into a pond. Another young boy riding a four wheeler noticed the submerged Power Wheel and went to get help.
Various media reports stated the child was underwater for about two minutes before being pulled out. Rescuers on the scene and first responders were able to revive him.
The boy was flown by Air Care to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital where he is expected to survive. Authorities have not released the names of those involved.
The incident is still under investigation by the sheriff’s department.
Assisting at the scene were Drewersburg Fire Department, Franklin County EMS, and Morgan Township (Ohio) Rescue/EMS.
