Cicadas Begin To Emerge; Have You Seen Them?
By Mike Perleberg
(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Can you hear it? Cicadas are emerging in the tri-state.
The buzzing, red-eyed bugs are appearing early. A 17-year brood is due to emerge to mate in 2021, but up to 10 percent of them are expected to come to the surface this year.
Experts believe the early emergence is due to warmer ground temperatures.
Cicadas have been spotted in southeastern Indiana, northern Kentucky and southwestern Ohio this week.
