(Hebron, Ky.) – A former Boone County youth sports coach has reached a plea agreement for producing and possessing child pornography.

Michael Schweitzer, 46, of Hebron, was charged last June in Boone County. His case was eventually elevated to federal court.

On Tuesday, Schweitzer reached a plea agreement with federal prosecutors in U.S. District Court for Eastern Kentucky that would give him a 35-year prison sentence. Under the agreement, Schweitzer would have to serve at least 85 percent of that sentence in prison.

Formal acceptance of the plea and sentencing by a federal judge is scheduled for July 1.

According to court documents, in November 2012, Schweitzer provided a drug to a minor and then recorded himself sexually exploiting the minor, while the minor was under the influence.

During the investigation, authorities seized Schweitzer’s cell phone and discovered more videos that he had produced, which also involved minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Schweitzer has been a coach in Boone County for youth baseball, basketball, football, and wrestling teams.
