(Versailles, Ind.) – Relatives of murder victim Nancy Hershman will have their chance Friday to address the woman convicted in the killing.
Hershman, a 68-year-old widow, was gunned down during a break-in at her home on West Ellis Street in Milan on December 30, 2012. Allison Moore, 24, and two teenage boys had forced their way into Hershman’s house in an attempt to burglarize the home. Prosecutors said Hershman was shot in the throat when she confronted the intruders.
Moore, of Colerain Township, was convicted of Murder, Burglary, and Conspiracy to Commit Burglary by a Ripley County jury during a trial last month.
Ripley Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Sharp will hear arguments regarding Moore’s sentence Friday morning.
Moore faces the possibility of 45 up to 105 years in prison. Jurors declined to recommend that Moore be punished with life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Prosecutor Ric Hertel said he expects Moore’s sentence to be pronounced by the judge at a later date, likely before Christmas.
Eagle Country 99.3 will have today’s sentencing arguments covered.
