Couple Allegedly Had Heroin, Child In Vehicle

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Lawrenceburg Police found heroin and a child in a car Thursday.

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Dearborn County Hospital parking garage at around 1:00 p.m. The occupants were believed to have been inside the vehicle since 3:00 a.m.

Inside the car were Joshua D. Rogers, 24, of Dillsboro, and Shirley J. Cox, 26, of Versailles. So was Cox’s two-year-old son.

A search of the vehicle turned up heroin, syringes, and paraphernalia.

Rogers and Cox are now in jail at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center awaiting their initial hearings in court.

Rogers is charged with Possession of Heroin (Class D felony), Possession of Paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor), Possession of a Syringe (Class D felony), Theft (Class D felony), and Attempted Theft (Class D felony).

Cox faces charges including Neglect of a Dependent (Class D felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class D felony), Possession of Paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor), Possession of a Syringe (Class D felony), Theft (Class D felony), and Attempted Theft (Class D felony).
