Crash On I-74 Ramp Injures Three

(Ripley County, Ind.) – One person was airlifted from the scene of a crash on the exit ramp from Interstate 74 to State Road 101 Friday morning.

According to Indiana State Police, shortly after 11:00 a.m. a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Robert L. Brown, 53, of Indianapolis had just exited eastbound I-74 at exit 156. At the top of the ramp Brown failed to yield to a southbound 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Johnny R. Norman, 71, of Batesville.

As Brown pulled out onto SR 101 it was struck broadside by Norman’s vehicle. After impact the Malibu skidded down the embankment on the southeast side of the interchange.

A passenger in Brown’s Malibu, Angela D. Brown, 46, had to be extricated from the vehicle and was airlifted to University Hospital in Cincinnati with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Robert Brown and Johnny Norman suffered minor abrasions, said state police.

Troopers cited Brown for Failure to Yield at a Through Roadway.

State police were assisted at the scene by Ripley County Sheriff’s Department, Sunman Fire Department, Sunman EMS, UC Air Care.
