ambulance-sirens-lights.jpg(Franklin County, Ind.) – Four people were hospitalized following a Saturday evening crash on U.S. 52 in Franklin County.

Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies say three vehicles were involved in the crash near the intersection with Hyde Road at about 5:39 p.m.

According to a news release, a 2009 Ford F-150 truck driven by Jesse J. Barton, 29, of Brookville, was turning left from Hyde Road onto U.S. 52 but failed to yield to a 1990 Ford Mustang Convertible driven by Peter J. Schalk, 22, of West Harrison, and a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle driven by Heath R. Bauman, 18, of Brookville.

Schalk’s vehicle struck Barton’s truck in the rear.  Bauman attempted to avoid the collision and veered into the west bound lane where the vehicle struck Barton’s truck in the right front, according to deputies.

Schalk and his passenger, Clayton P. Schalk, 20, of West Harrison, were transported by Franklin County EMS to McCullough-Hyde Hospital in Oxford, Ohio.

Bauman and his passenger, Tristen Nevels, 18, of Brookville, were taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital by Franklin County EMS.

Assisting the sheriff’s department at the accident scene were Brookville Police, Indiana State Police, Brookville Volunteer Fire Department, and Rescue 24.
