(Batesville, Ind.) – The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to reopen State Road 46 near Batesville in time for the school buses next month.

S.R. 46 has been closed since late June after an inspection found structural issues with the bridge over Little Laughery Creek, located west of Batesville.

Contracted crews with Dave O’Mara Contractors are expected to start about $90,000 in emergency repairs this week, according to the Batesville Herald-Tribune. A complete replacement is planned in the future.

INDOT’s aim is to reopen the highway by August 9.

The State Road 46 bridge over Laughery Creek carries approximately 4,700 vehicles each day.
