Culvert Replacement To Close US 421 Near Napoleon Beginning July 24

(Ripley County, Ind.) – A culvert replacement project will close a Ripley County road beginning next week.

The Indiana Department of Transporation plans to close U.S. Highway 421 north of Napoleon on Monday, July 24 for 14 days for replacement of the concrete box culvert that carries a branch of Laughery Creek. A detour will be set up 1.69 miles north of State Road 229 – via SR 229, SR 48, SR 129 and SR 46.

HIS Contractors of Indianapolis has been contracted for the $1,781,160 bridge replacement project which also includes removing and replacing a culvert on U.S. 421 in Decatur County at Lost Fork, and a bridge replacement at Sand Creek on the south side of Greensburg.

According to INDOT, nearly 3,960 vehicles per day travel on the structure north of Napoleon.

Motorists should be award of crews that are currently on site clearing off-road areas near the creek.
