CVG Airfare Highest On Average

(Hebron, Ky.) – Travelers taking flights from Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky airport paid the highest fares in the nation for 2011.


The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics ranked the country’s 100 largest airports by average airfare price in 2011’s fourth quarter.


CVG customers paid an average of $502.


Regional travelers have other, more affordable options. Columbus, Ohio’s airport had an average airfare of $353. Indianapolis’ average airfare was $370, Louisville $389, and Lexington $402.


Nationally, airfares were $368 on average, up about 10 percent from the fourth quarter of 2010.


The department’s report did not include airports in Alaska, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico.
