Dearborn Co. Cancels Siren Test July 4
(Dearborn County, Ind.) – A couple reasons are given for cancelling the monthly test of outdoor emergency sirens in Dearborn County.
The tests are usually sounded at 7:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month, said Dearborn County Emergency Management Agency Director Bill Black, Jr. This month, that happens to be the Fourth of July.
To avoid confusion for many of the outdoor get-togethers that happen on July 4, the sirens will not be activated for the regular test.
Black also said with the World Choir Games going on in the Cincinnati area there may be visitors in the area from different countries and a siren may mean something more than a weather statement to them.
Dearborn County only activates the sirens for Tornado Warnings. If you here them tune in to radio or television, take action if there is weather activity in your area, and take cover indoors until the storm is over.
