(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – The new $11.7 million Dearborn County Courthouse annex is just about ready to welcome citizens.
“The contractors are busy working on the final punch lists to get the addition opened,” said Dearborn County Administrator Sue Hayden.
A soft opening for the new front entrance on Mary Street is planned for Tuesday, December 19. The entrance will become the only way into the Dearborn County Government Center. The annex connects the old 1871 courthouse and the county administration building, which were previously separate.
The current public entrance for the original section of the courthouse facing West High Street will become an “employee only” entrance. The new handicap entrance will not quite be ready, so people in wheelchairs will have to continue using the temporary wood ramp on the side of the old courthouse.
Meanwhile, many county offices in the courthouse are in the process of moving to their new locations. Hayden says there will be plenty of signage directing people where to go.
Also starting December 19, the new mailing address for county offices will become Dearborn County Government Center, 165 Mary Street, Lawrenceburg, IN 47025.
