(Dearborn County, Ind.) – Connie Fromhold does not have to wait for the election before she becomes the new Dearborn County Auditor.

Fromhold is the only candidate who filed to run for Dearborn County Auditor in the 2018 election. At this time, she is unopposed in both the May 8 primary election and the November 6 general election.

But on Thursday, a Dearborn County Republican Party Caucus met and selected Fromhold to fill the vacancy for county auditor.

The 23-year employee of the auditor’s office replaces Gayle Pennington, who left the position January 31 after the GOP held another caucus to appoint her as the replacement for former Dearborn County Clerk of Courts Rick Probst. Probst had announced in January he would be resigning effective February 16.

Fromhold will fill the remaining 11 months of Pennington’s term as auditor through the end of this year, and would retain the office if elected in November.
