Dearborn Co. Home Sales Slowed In April

Posted On May 22, 2012

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – New home sales numbers from the Indiana Association of Realtors shows 26 homes were sold in Dearborn County in April 2012, a decline 7.1 percent from April 2011.

Statewide, April proved to be one of the best months for home sellers have seen in years, said association CEO Karl Berron.

“And members are confident the next few months of the traditional selling season will follow this positive trend so long as Hoosiers are working,” Berron said.

The number of closed sales on detached single family homes, condominiums, and town homes last month increased 13 percent to 5,568 statewide. The median sale price of those homes increased 2.7 percent to $116,000.

In southeast Indiana, 2012 home sales continue close to last year’s pace. Through the first four months of 2012, Dearborn County has seen 112 sales, just off from 115 during the same period in 2011. The county’s median selling price has been down 4.1 percent to $119,900 this year.

Ripley County is ahead of 2011’s 11 sales through four months with 18 sales so far this year. Unlike Dearborn County, Ripley’s median selling price has improved by more than 10 percent to $102,000.

Eighteen homes sold in Ripley County in April, a 63 percent increase from the same month a year ago.

“Going forward, we will be closely watching the activity related to the percent of original list price received at sale and inventory of homes for sale,” said Berron. “Favorable supply-demand trends may finally be ticking toward sellers, though with still historically low interest rates, qualified buyers have a great market in which to make an investment.”
