Dearborn County Council Member Barrett, 75, Dies

(Aurora, Ind.) – Dearborn County Councilman Maynard Barrett died Thursday.
Barrett, an Aurora resident who was serving his second term as member of Dearborn County Council, died suddenly. He was 75.
Barrett was first elected to council in 2006 representing District 3, most of the southern end of the county, on the fiscal governing body. He was running for a third term in 2014, having won the May Republican primary.
According to his obituary, the former National Guardsman worked for Davison Chemical Company for 34 years. He is survived by wife Jackie, sons Jeff and Doug Barrett, and two granddaughters.
Visitation for friends and family is scheduled for Tuesday, June 10 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home in Aurora. Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 11 at 11:00 a.m. Barrett’s final resting place will be River View Cemetery in Aurora.
Plans for a Republican caucus to be held to fill the county council vacancy left by Barrett’s passing have not been announced.
