Deer Causes Driver To Swerve Off Road

(Brookville, Ind.) – A Brookville man was flown to the hospital following a deer-related crash on State Road 101.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department says Jimmie L. Amyx, 35, of Brookville, was driving a 1999 Mazda 626 southbound on S.R. 101 at Golden Road when a deer bounded into his path on Saturday, September 30 at around 1:09 a.m.

The vehicle swerved to avoid the deer, going off the roadway and into a ditch. The vehicle crossed Golden Road and came to a rest in a field.

Amyx was flown by Air Care to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Responder 24, EMS 2, and the Brookville Volunteer Fire Department.
