(Franklin County, Ind.) – Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies say alcohol and a deer were factors in a crash on Monday, October 9.

A 2006 Chevrolet Equinox operated by Donna K. Bruns, 51, of Brookville, was westbound on U.S. 52 near Hydes Road at around 8:43 p.m. Deputies say the vehicle struck a deer, causing Bruns to lose control.

The vehicle struck a guardrail and rolled over and embankment before coming to a rest upright.

Bruns was transported by Drewersburg EMS 1 to McCullough-Hyde Hospital in Oxford for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident.

Deputies suspect that alcohol played a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation pending the results of toxicology testing.

Brookville Volunteer Fire Department and Responder 24 also worked the crash scene.
