(Hamilton County, Oh.) – Get ready for yet more car-mageddon on Interstate 74/275 in Hamilton County.

New lane changes and closures are coming to the construction zone on I-275 at the I-74 split. The Ohio Department of Transportation announced Monday that pavement work will require a lane closure on eastbound I-275 starting at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 6. The right lane of eastbound I-275 from the split to Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway will be closed around the clock until 7:00 a.m. Monday, August 11.

Signs have been placed ahead of the work zone to inform motorists of the upcoming lane closure.

ODOT says traffic delays will be significant. Motorists should try to use another route if possible. Those who do stay on the interstate through the construction zone will still be able to access exit ramps.

Those thinking State Route 128 to U.S. 50 from I-74 as a possible detour may need to think twice. ODOT has announced that SR 128 will be closed for culvert work from Saturday, August 9 at 7:30 a.m. until Friday, August 15 at 3:00 p.m.

The official detour around the SR 128 closure will be Kilby Road to northbound I-275 to eastbound I-74, back to SR 128 – or vice versa. The detour will tack on about three miles or five minutes

The I-275 construction has been causing major delays on I-74 before the split on a number of mornings the past couple weeks. Traffic on eastbound I-74 during the Monday morning commute backed up for more than two miles.
