(Sunman, Ind.) – Indiana State Police are seeking those responsible for beating two men in a bar parking lot in Sunman.
Shane M. Brown, of Lawrenceburg, and Andrew A. Hammann, of Sunman, each suffered head injuries in the fight at around 2:00 a.m. Sunday, June 11 outside Whipple’s Bar on West Washington Street in Sunman.
“At this time, Indiana State Police Detectives believe there was an altercation with four individuals outside the business in the early morning hours,” said ISP Sgt. Stephen Wheeles.
Contrary to rumors circulating in the community, police believe no weapons were used in the fight.
Following the fight, Brown was transported to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville before being transferred to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with serious injuries. He has since been released from the hospital. Hammann initially declined medical treatment before later being treated for his injuries, Wheeles said.
Investigators are now asking the public for help identifying potential suspects or witnesses to the fight. If you have information, call Detective Kip Main at the Indiana State Police Versailles Post at (812) 689-5000.
At the conclusion of the investigation, the case will be turned over to the Ripley County Prosecutor’s Office for review for potential charges.
