(Aurora, Ind.) – A dog in the roadway reportedly caused a four-vehicle pileup on State Road 56 near the Dearborn-Ohio county line Friday afternoon.

Aurora Police say the accident happened at around 4:41 p.m. on the 1100 block of SR 56, between the Aurora Marina and the Lighthouse Point Yacht Club.

Multiple drivers told officers that an unrestrained dog darted into traffic which caused  one driver to come to an abrupt stop. Three other drivers could not stop in time, leading to the rear-ending pileup.

The westbound lane of SR 56 at the crash scene was closed until tow trucks could arrive to remove three of the vehicles which were damaged to the point of not being able to be driven.

Police said no injuries were reported at the scene.
