Dogs Leading Race For Mayor of Bright

One of the candidates for the Honorary Mayor of Bright.


(Bright, Ind.) – Primary elections may have passed in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky, but the voting continues for the honorary Mayor of Bright.


The second annual fundraiser for the Bright Fire Department and Bright Masonic Lodge will elect somebody’s pet as the honorary mayor of Bright.


The primary voting began May 8. So far, the leading vote getters are all dogs: Gunner, Sydney, and Sophie.


Twenty-one candidates in all were nominated for the mayor. There are 16 dogs, four cats, and a glass horse named Fiby. Candidate pictures and profiled can be viewed at www.MayorOfBright.org.


Votes can be cast for $1 a piece at ten Bright area businesses through June 30. The top three vote getters will run in the general election at the Bright Community Festival July 27-28. A winner will be announced on Sunday, July 29.
